Allergy Testing

We offer a full range of irritation and allergy patch testing, including 24 to 96-hour irritation protocols, HRIPT protocols, allergy, and photo allergy testing.

Some chemicals are only photo-irritants or photo-allergens after activation by UV light.

Photo irritancy: The test product is applied to the skin under occlusion for 24 or 48 hours. The test sites are irradiated with UVA followed by UVB and assessed subsequently for the development of photo-irritancy.

Photo allergy: The test protocol mirrors the sensitization test and is as follows:

• A minimum of 50 subjects are needed for reliable information.
• 3 weeks induction period with skin exposure under occlusion followed by UV radiation twice weekly.
• Rest phase of 2 weeks with no application.
• Photo allergy challenge in 6th week using UVA and UVB.
